Editorial purpose

We distinguish allegation, arrest, charge, plea, conviction, civil finding and regulatory order. Headlines do not imply guilt where a matter was unresolved. Monetary amounts are labelled as alleged loss, face value, amount at issue, recovery or final judgment as appropriate. Historical crime is described for consequence and context, without operational instructions that could enable wrongdoing.

Numbers and records

Currency, date, jurisdiction and measurement basis accompany major figures. Where comparisons are not like-for-like, we say so. Project budget, final cost, market value and revenue are never treated as synonyms. Rare gambling outcomes are not presented as representative or predictive.

Independence and commercial influence

We do not use generative systems to fabricate quotes, sources, events or identifiable people. Material claims remain subject to human editorial verification.

Corrections and updates

Substantive errors are corrected promptly and the article receives an explanatory note describing what changed. Minor spelling or formatting repairs may be made without a note. New information is labelled as an update rather than silently rewritten into the original chronology.

Right of reply and fairness

People and organisations facing significant criticism should have a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication where practical. We summarise relevant responses fairly and do not make acceptance of an interview a condition for correcting an established error.
